Cogent Energy, Inc., an established and progressive energy consulting, engineering and commissioning firm, has an opening in its Irvine offices for a mechanical engineer with 10 years or more of experience in the engineering, energy, commissioning, or construction industries. The position will act as both a project manager and a working engineer.  The position will mentor junior staff and lead project teams.  The candidate will have the ability to multi-task and manage projects with minimal supervision. The candidate will act as Commissioning Authority for new construction, major renovation and retro-commissioning projects. Responsibilities will include:

Developing commissioning plans Leading commissioning meetings Performing design reviews and construction site observations Performing installation verifications Developing functional test procedures and conducting functional performance tests Writing commissioning reports Assembling systems manuals Conducting building simulations Analyzing trend data HVAC retrofit design Energy audits Detailed project scheduling Oversee all aspects of a project including scope, schedule and budget Train and mentor junior staff

The successful candidate shall have the ability to clearly communicate thoughts and concepts in writing and orally.  Candidate shall be a self starter, have good organizational skills, and have the ability to manage tasks and assignments with little direct supervision.  Candidate shall have at least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a well rounded understanding of energy efficiency measure application in commercial building systems.  Expertise with Excel is required and experience with Word, building simulation programs, macro programming, and AutoCAD is desirable.  P.E. registration is required.

Outside HVAC Sales Engineer Current openings for experienced HVAC outside sales engineers in the Los Angeles Area. Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree, basic computer skills, and experience in cooling towers for central plants / light industrial heat transfer processes is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Qualified candidates will have experience calling on mechanical engineers and mechanical contractors in the Southern CA region.
